Dilip Kumar Maharana (born in 1980) is another brilliant artist from Dandasahi near Raghurajpur. The son of National Awardee Guru Arjun Maharana, Dillip and his younger brother Pramod and their two sisters developed a love for the art form early, imbibing its skill from their father. Dillip’s work displays a masterful use of colour in employing stories from mythology narrated in a sequence of panels. He also excels in fine line work, evident in his Tree of Life. He paints on handwoven cotton cloth canvases as well as tussar silk, exhibiting his exquisite artworks at Paramparik Karigar exhibitions. Given his hereditary lineage, his team consists of his family members. His sisters assist with preparing the handwoven cloth canvas and natural colours while Dilip as the master outlines the composition on each patta, canvas, after which the family members fill in the colours according to his specifications.
