Kantha is perhaps one of the oldest forms of Indian embroidery as it can be traced back to the first and second century A.D. The thought behind this needlework was to reuse old clothes and materials to turn them into something new, making Kantha embroidery one of its kind! Offerings by this brand are made of fabric sourced from the looms of Bhagalpur, Bihar, and are effortfully hand-Embroidered by adept artisans in Bolpur, West Bengal. This tussar silk stole features the Kantha embroidery technique that typically uses the classic running stitch method to create spectacular and striking designs with colorful cotton threads. Traditionally, women would take 4 to 5 sarees, layer them together and create different running stitches on them which they then used as blankets to cover their children with. However, what started as a way to make life more comfortable became a massive trend in the fashion industry. Even to this day, Kantha work remains a significant symbol that displays the marvelous skill and talent of the rural women in Bengal, India
